What is Microblading?

Microblading is also known as eyebrow embroidery, feather touch and micro stroking are all new forms of permanent makeup which can disguise missing eyebrow hair with the appearance of simulated hair using very fine deposits of cosmetic tattoo pigments.

Microblading requires a manual tool featuring several tiny needles in a row to deposit dye into the dermal second layer of the skin. The pen-like device yields amazingly natural-looking arches because the needles etch hyper-precise strokes that actually look like an individual’s brow hairs. Microblading creates subtle, natural-looking brows by mimicking the strokes of eyebrow hairs.

Originated from Asia, Microblading is a type of semi-permament tattoo using manual pen-like device to deposit pigment with disposable microblade to mimic stroke-like thin line to achieve most natural, 3D result. Unlike old-fashion tattoo, the depth of microblading will be in between of epidermis and dermis, at this level, skin heals faster and will naturally absorb the pigment over time. We are using iron-oxide based pigment, the pigments that is considered the safest semi-permanent pigments for the skin.

What about Microblading @ Browtique by Nelly?

Nelly has trained with 6D Microblading innovator, two times world champion-David Zhang for his signature 6D microblading stroke. This style offers more dimensional and natural result and usually last longer with special technique. However, result will vary with each individual. No such guarantee can be made due to different skin type and many other factors.

Problematic skin, such as oil skin may not be good choice for microblading stroke style, as this type of skin tends to bleed more and will eventually push out the pigments with oil, cause stroke to lose its defined, crisp look. In that case, a modified method combined Stroke with Shading style may be suggested. Or a complete look with shading ombre look alone will be suggested.

What if I have had a previous tattoo from another artist?

If you have had a previous tattoo done by other artist must submit clear picture of the eyebrows, free of makeup before booking appointment so a proper determination as to whether you are a good candidate for correction will be made without risking to lose the deposit.

No such guarantee will be made, especially for this type of correction work. The artist will try every attempt to achieve the result that is mutually agreed upon between the client and the artist, but the client has to have realistic expectation as to what will be eventually achieved.  If the previous tattoo was too saturated to correct, it is best to remove it first before receiving microblading.

If client (in the case of having previous tattoo) decides to pay deposit first without sending picture of previous tattoo work or choose not to disclose the fact about having previous tattoo.

Upon arrival the artist, determine that the previous tattoo was too saturated to correct or client is expecting unrealistic result, the deposit will be forfeited and non-refundable. Client in general is strongly suggested to submit your eyebrows picture, free of makeup before booking appointment to best avoid losing the deposit. If client is having any condition mentioned above, the deposit will be non-refundable.

The Microblading Process

Step 1 – The Golden Ratio

Browtique by Nelly measures and marks your face by methods of the Golden Ratio using several different measuring tools and techniques to help achieve the best proportions, harmony, and balance for your bone structure.

The Golden ratio 1.618 known as Phi (and also as Golden Mean, Golden Section, Divine Proportion and its mathematical cousin, the Fibonacci sequence) is a proportion that appears in the patterns and proportions of every living form and even in the dimensions of our DNA. Key features of the human face can embody many golden ratios, leading to our perceptions of beauty. The appearance of this ratio creates a sense of balance, harmony and beauty in the design we find in nature. Which is why mankind has applied this same proportion, both consciously and subconsciously in art, architecture, design and composition.

Step 2 – Shaping

Using makeup, the outlines are drawn in the general shape according to the markings made using the golden ratio.  The shape may be adjusted and the thickness tweaked as many times as needed until the desired look is achieved.

Step 3 – Micro-pigmentation

The immediate area is numbed.  The best suited pigment is chosen for your skin and hair colour, then the tattooing procedure is started.  Microblading is used for the eyebrows and regular tattoo machine is used for the other areas.
